Ruaraidh MacDonagh is a Consultant Urologist at Taunton and Somerset Hospital in South West England. Clinical interests include Uro-oncology and stone surgery. Previous research involved the assessment of quality of life in patients and partners and the design and validation of disease specific quality of life measures. He was Chair of the BAUS Urolink Subcommittee for 7 years and continues to work to further Urological expertise in resource poor countries. He is Chairman and founder of Health Improvement Project Zanzibar (HIPZ) which now runs 2 government hospitals in Zanzibar, Tanzania providing general healthcare to over 300,000 people.
He was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2016 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of the impact of his charitable work in Zanzibar.
